Question: How to clean a diamond ring.?
(Posted by: stephanie on 2010-01-21 20:25:57)
My dad was mowing the lawn one day and he found a 14 Karat gold and sterling silver diamond ring. I know it is real but it is very dirty. The diamond is greenish, the silver is very dull and dirty, and the gold is chipped really bad. But I don't really know what to do with it. I have washed away the loose dirt, but it is stained. I know I can't do anything with the chipped gold at home, but is there anyway I can get it shinny and pretty? I would like to know some home remedies. Can anyone help me? And do you think if I do get it cleaned I could pawn it with chipped gold and still get a good amount of money. I mean It was a free ring and I have no use for it. I just want to clean it before I pawn it. Thanks everyone. |

You could clean it as followings: 1. put a drop of detergent in a bowl of water. 2. put these rings into the bowl for 15 to 30 minutes. 3. use a soft brush to clean it gently. 4. take the rings out of and use clean water to clean the ring. 5. put the ring on a pc of toilt paper and let the ring dry by itself. VIP: never clean the ring ( any gold jewelry with toilt paper, it will scratch the ring ). then u could pawn a new ring now!! i m a jeweler from china. u r welcome to contact me if you have any questions about jewlery. |

I used to use an old toothbrush also.. but if it's really real, I would suggest going to a nearby jewelery store and have them clean it for you or something. If it's worth something, you don't want to ruin it.. |
