Question: Really bad diamond situation, what can i do?

My boyfriend bought a diamond from a jeweler, who claimed it was one carat, princess cut, VVS1 clarity, and F in color. We went to a different jeweler who looked at it, and said it was under a third carat, and the color was way lower. He paid $5.8k for it. When he bought it, the man said "diamonds don't get receipts. " What can we do to get at least some of our money back? Can I get my money, or some money back? We realized this was wrong when we went to the second jeweler, who showed us a REAL one carat diamond, with perfect coloring for $4.2k.

1 carat for almost $6,000 is insane! My ex-fiance bought me a 1 carat engagement ring for $1200!! and the fact that it's a third of a carat is a total ripoff. Was this a normal store? Of course a diamond ring gets a receipt!
